Films rolling; babies rolling.

We went to Stars n Strollers again today, and with this trip we have now checked all three venues out. Silver City in Gloucester is the winner, hands down. Its the only place that looks like it was set up by someone who knows, and cares about, babies, while the other two are really just phonin it in and look like they just have a checklist that they have to follow. For example, all have change stations that supply diapers, but the spectrum ranges from a table with a cheap plastic tablecloth in Barrhaven, to a couple of tables with one or two places laid out with change pads at the Coliseum, to the eight, count em EIGHT stations laid out with change pads, diapers, wipes, diaper cream and hand cleanser at the Silver City. And unlike the Coliseum where you have to look around and walk to a garbage can to dispose of the diaper-change detritus, Silver City puts a couple of garbage cans within arms reach. Its the little things at Silver City that add up to making you feel looked-after and wanted there, that the other places lack.

So Grommet is now coming this close to rolling over. She can get her whole lower body from her back to her front, but her torso gets stuck with one arm in the way. Guess it wont be long now til we have to be extra-vigilant not to put her anywhere she can roll off from. Not an easy job given that she sleeps on our bed. Maybe we should get a couple of rails? Actually, shell be turning 6 months in less than 2 weeks (!!!) and starting solids so, in theory, she should be able to go longer between feedings if shes getting something that sticks to her ribs more, and thus she should also be making the transition to her own crib. I know J is quite keen on this happening and reclaiming our nocturnal space, but Im not as convinced. Before becoming a mom I never thought Id say this but Ill miss having her in bed with us! On the upside (for me), J will be continuing to get up at 3:30 am for work so hell be able to deliver her into my waiting arms, allowing me to feed her and snuggle in for the rest of the night with her.
