Home again, home again, rig-a-jig-jig.

Just a quick update:

Biscuit was born via c-section at 8:33 on Tuesday morning, weighing 7lbs, 12oz (3536 grams), and measuring 20.5 inches. He's beautiful and healthy and I promise a pic or two will be coming this week.

I don't know what this week'll be like, but I can say that, for me and unlike what I'd been told, recovery from a planned c-section has sucked just as much, if not more, than the recovery from my emergency c-section.

We got home yesterday (Friday) around lunch time. Unlike the first time, I couldn't walk all the way to the car and was wheeled out in a wheelchair by J. On the up side, I thought it was kind of fun to be wheeled around, so there's that. Despite the fact that I didn't swell up before the birth, my ankles are now HUGE - as big as they were when I had pre-eclampsia. I can even feel how taught the skin is on them. I'm hoping to move around a bit more in the next day or two to combat this.

Also? My milk came in faster this time (thank goodness) so that meant the sudden and rapid onset of huge, hard, porn-star boobs (for those that ended up here from googling that search string, you're in for disappointment when you read this journal, which is not at all titillating (pun intended)). I mean, like, within a few hours on Thursday I went from normal to ridiculous, and all the attendant discomfort that means.

Grommet did well enough at her grandparents' and daycare for the week. She came to visit in the hospital on Wednesday night and still seems enthralled with her new baby brother. Fingers crossed that that lasts.

Birth story to come, hopefully some time this week. I can at least promise a picture.

P.S. If you're emailing me, replace the [at] with @ in the "to" line. Oh, and if you put the word "journal" in the subject line it'll have a better chance of making it past my junk mail filters.
